South Africa
South Africa has a large variety of ecosystems that host a myriad of wildlife, from marine wildlife to the smallest floral kingdom in the world and of course not forgetting the magnificent Big 5 that can be found around South Africa.
Having gone through a political transition like no other country, South Africa's population is as diverse as its wildlife, and is a thriving tourist destination.
Free time Each week you will have Saturday afternoons and Sundays off to relax or take part in an optional excursion (available at an extra cost).
Once your training period is complete and you have moved onto your 7-month practical work experience period you will be part of a commercial operation and will therefore fall within their working policies. A typical work period is 4 weeks on and 1 week off.
Optional excursions Once on the project the following optional excursions will be available to you (at an extra cost):
- Chimpanzee Sanctuary tours
- Open vehicle safaris
- Quad bike tours
- River rafting
- Helicopter and micro light flights
- Horseback trails
- Mountain biking
- Panorama tours
- Endangered species tours
- Mammal rehab tours
Getting There You will need to arrange your flights to Johannesburg International Airport. From here you will be transferred via road to the project, this will take around 4 –5 hours.
Alternatively, you have the option of booking an internal flight from Johannesburg International to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA), at your own extra cost. From here the transfer to the project is much shorter.
