Kruger to Coast Sports Adventure

Your Typical Itinerary

Here is an outline of your exciting itinerary. Please note that your itineraries may differ from this, depending on your own experience and the number of other volunteers on the placement at the same time.

Day 1-2
Once you have arrived at Manzini International Airport in Swaziland, there will be an orientation and detailed briefing of the itinerary by your expedition leader. Your accommodation will be at a backpacker lodge in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley.

Day 3-7 Conservation tour, Kruger National Park, South Africa
Kruger National Park is one of the most famous conservation areas in Africa. Kruger has a vast range of habitats and wildlife, offering some of the greatest opportunities in the world to view Africa’s incredible big game.

You will be taking a five-day tour right into the very heart of Kruger National Park. This will include 4 nights camping out in the park along with many game drives, giving you the chance to explore the area with an expert guide and learn more about the park. You will also be taken on a guided walk through the bush to search for big game as well as taking a night drive in search of nocturnal wildlife.  Previous groups have been lucky enough to catch sight of lions, rhinos, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and wild dogs, and hopefully you will too!

On day 7 you will leave the Kruger Park and travel south into the Kingdom of Swaziland, in preparation for your community sports coaching and development experience.

Days 8-20 Sports Coaching and Community Project, Lobamba, Swaziland
Your next stop will be to volunteer for 2 weeks on our Sports Coaching and Community Project in the Lobamba region of Swaziland.  Here you will work with a number of enthusiastic and sports-mad children, mainly organising games and running sports coaching clinics. Previous volunteers have arranged school-style sports’ days and mini-tournaments to get the kids involved too, so there’s lots of scope to keep you and the kids active!

Whilst football is the most popular sport, the community sports centre has the facilities for you to teach:

  • Tennis and table tennis
  • Pool
  • Volleyball
  • Netball
  • Woosh ball – a cross between golf and croquet

During your stay in Swaziland you will visit the Mantenga Cultural Village to experience Swazi culture, lifestyle and traditional dancing.

Day 21-27 Scuba Diving Course, Tofo, Mozambique
Journey onto Mozambique, a destination that is famous for it’s tropical beaches and clear waters of the Indian Ocean.  Your first night will be spent in a Mozambican bush lodge on route to your beach destination. The following morning you’ll drive north to the stunning Inhambane peninsular; your destination is Tofo in southern Mozambique, a beautiful laid-back beach village offering some of the best opportunities to swim with whale sharks.  Tofo is a marine paradise, with its diverse coral reefs, whales and nesting turtles.

You spend 5 days in Tofo, to enjoy the laid-back beach lifestyle of Mozambique. For the next four nights you will be staying in reed style dorms at a beach backpacker lodge, situated right on the beach and set among coconut palms. Your guide will be there to introduce you to beach life and the marine life.

At our dive school in Tofo, you will complete a PADI Open Water Course. This qualification will allow you to dive anywhere in the world, down to depths of 18 metres. It consists of studying 5 academic modules, with 6 confined dives and 4 open water dives. If you already hold your Open Water Qualification, you can have a refresher dive, complete your Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Nitrox or Adventure Diver qualifications, all of which are included in the price. Extra dives are available, starting at £35 / 47€ each.

There will also be plenty of time for you to relax and chill out on the beach and even have one or two beach parties!

Day 28
On your last day of the tour you will get a transfer back to Swaziland.   For your final night your accommodation will be at a backpacker lodge in Ezulwini Valley, then it will be time to pack your belongings and say your farewells to your new friends.

Day 29
On the Monday, you will be transferred back to Manzini Airport to catch your return flight home.

Please note: Itineraries and activities are subject to change.
