Why learn to surf?

Around 90% of Australians live on the coast, so surfing is as Australian as Vegemite, Skippy the Kangaroo and beach BBQs! You will rarely run out of opportunities to ride a wave, so why not try something new?

Who goes on these trips?
People of all ages, from all over the world, go to Australia hoping to experience the surfing lifestyle. Most of these people will be on gap years, backpacking their way around and maybe working abroad too - basically everyone seeking a variety of travelling experiences.

Does this trip fit in with the “conventional” route?
Most people who work and travel Australia, will travel from Sydney to Cairns as the main part of their trip. This is where most of the jobs in Australia exist and where a majority of the sights are.

A lot of backpackers, especially those with limited time, travel direct from Sydney to Byron Bay and miss out some of the beautiful parts of New South Wales. This trip means that you can follow the route but not miss out a thing and you get to learn how to ride the Aussie waves!
