Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is nestled between Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa and is home to the almighty Victoria Falls. Zimbabwe is a diverse and exciting destination, with an abundance of African Wildlife and home to some of the most warm and welcoming African communities.

Where else in the world can you walk with lions, visit pristine wildlife reserves home to hundreds of species of wildlife, work alongside African communities and enjoy the thrill of white water rafting and other adrenaline sports?

Free Time
During your stay in the Midlands, you have the option to join an exciting trip to the magnificent Victoria Falls (via the beautiful Matobo and Hwange National Park) that departs for 5 nights and 6 days on the 19th of each month. This takes you to some of the most spectacular spots that Zimbabwe has to offer and is a great chance for volunteers to interact and get to know each other better.

An expedition such as this will cost you US$330, with an additional US$500 recommended spending money to enable you to try all of the activities that Victoria Falls has to offer you!

Being in Zimbabwe means that you are close to the Victoria Falls, which is a major starting point for tours through Africa. From 3-day mini trips to a mammoth 56-day epic, we have the perfect tour to suit your needs and leave you with unforgettable memories of Africa. Please speak to the Africa team for further details

Getting There
Upon arriving at either Bulawayo or Harare Airports you will be met by one of our representatives and taken to your comfortable volunteer overnight accommodation. You will then transfer via bus on the following morning to the project, where you will be met by our African representative.

You have 2 options for arriving at your project:

  1. Fly in to Bulawayo Airport, Zimbabwe via Johannesburg, South Africa to arrive on the Saturday: Here you will stay overnight at our affiliate backpackers lodge and then transfer by 2 hour bus/coach ride to Gweru at 8am the following morning.

  2. Fly in to Harare, arriving on a Monday where you will be met by our representatives and taken to our affiliate lodge in the suburbs and then either transfer by 4 hour bus/coach ride to Gweru at 8am the following morning.
