Make a difference
It's a fantastic feeling to come to the end of a gap year and think, “I've done something to make a difference.” We know, we've been there, done that and really enjoyed thinking it!

Make a difference - ways to make a difference How you make a difference on your gap year is up to you. If you'd like to help adults or children, take a look at our community volunteering projects. You can make a difference to communities in a whole range of ways - teaching English and other basic subjects to children and adults, playing games with children, helping to build homes for families and promoting AIDS awareness programmes are just some of them.
If you're fond of wildlife or like working outdoors, you might like to make a difference to the lives of animals that have been abused or are endangered. You can work with everything from lions to turtles, or help conserve the environment in settings as beautiful as Hawaii. Check out our conservation and wildlife volunteering programmes. |
Make a difference - small things mean a lot You might not believe it but even singing a song with children can transform their day and give them something to smile about.
Make a difference - expertise not necessary!
You really don't need any special skills to make a difference. Of course, if you have specialist knowledge or experience, that would be great but it's not a problem if not. The people who make a difference most successfully are those who approach volunteer projects with an open mind, enthusiasm and creativity. Oh, and a compassionate and caring nature. But if you've decided you want to make a difference on your gap year, the chances are you already are a compassionate and caring person!
Make a difference - have a great time while you do it
Hard work, yes. Slavery, never! You don't have to be doing things to make a difference 24/7 - there's plenty of time in our volunteer projects to relax or explore the surrounding area (which is usually stunning!).
Make a difference on your gap year and you won't regret it!
