Volunteer in Malaysia to make a contribution when you travel to Malaysia on your gap year. Two of Real Gap’s most exciting Malaysia volunteer options, especially if you’re passionate about wildlife, are based on Borneo – where it’s possible to get involved with orang-utan conservation work as well as an excellent community volunteering projects helping indigenous tribes-people. Real Gap’s other Malaysia gap year volunteer programmes include a sea turtle conservation project as well as a programme enabling volunteers to work as a zoo assistant in Kuala Lumpur.

	Borneo Pygmy Elephant and Orangutan Conservation Tour

Help protect endangered Pygmy elephants, see wild orangutans and proboscis monkeys, take a river safari and visit Kinabalu National Park. You'll stay in a comfortable riverside eco-lodge, in the heart of the jungle.


	Borneo Tribeschildren and Horses Volunteer

A dream for horse lovers and anyone who enjoys the outside – you’ll be fully immersed in rural life, helping with everything from training horses and farm work to teaching English and preparing activities for the children.


	Malaysia Coral Reef and Turtle Conservation

After taking or upgrading a PADI diving certificate, you’ll be able to dive in Malaysia’s clear blue waters, swimming among the marine life and helping protect turtle eggs and coral.

	Orang-utan Experience Volunteer Malaysia

Work with orang-utans in a zoo, before seeing them in a rehabilitation centre and the wild. The trip takes you deep into the Bornean jungle, where you’ll help build trails and get to know the Iban tribes.


	Turtle and Dive Volunteer Malaysia

Learn to scuba dive and help protect endangered turtles. Observe and record the turtles’ behaviour as they lay eggs and help clear the beaches of debris. Get an internationally recognised diving certificate, too
