Project Orientation
On your first full day in Moldova you will be given a comprehensive orientation by the volunteer coordinator.
The orientation will include:
- An introduction to Moldovan culture and values
- Basic local language lessons
- Your health and safety whilst in Moldova
- Workplace ethics before starting your project
- Money and transportation in Moldova
- An introduction to the area and to the places and staff that you will be working with
- Local food and practices
- Areas of Moldova worth visiting in your free time
Accommodation and Meals
You will either stay in a shared volunteer house a short bus ride outside Chisinau, in a village called Gratiesti or in shared volunteer apartments in Chisinau. The volunteer house is fenced and gated and also has a garden. The apartments are comfortable and closer to the main orphanage. Both have full facilities and you will be expected to keep them clean and tidy. Two meals per day are provided; breakfast and dinner.
Weekend travel
There are a number of highlights that you may like to see in your free time at weekends, such as the town of Chisinau or the surrounding area. You may also have an opportunity to visit families in the local villages should you wish to.
The project staff will be happy to help you organise excursions while you are there, so please discuss the options with them. Alternatively, you may wish to just relax around the house, so feel free to do just that!
Project Age Limit
The participants on this programme may be of a broad age range. Minimum age is 18 (17 with parental consent).
