From just two staff and a telephone three years ago, the locally-based company now employs over 25 people, most of whom have travelled the world themselves before joining the group. From nearly 250 satisfied customers in 2002, Real Gap now sends over 5,000 young people all over the world.
Part of a growing phenomena, Real Gap Experience is one of the biggest gap year providers in the UK. The company has more choice of programmes and destinations than any other operator, and the team's specialist knowledge is second to none when it comes to gap year options.
Offering travel, work and volunteer projects in over 30 countries, Real Gap trips include volunteering with wildlife, with conservation, working with children, helping deprived communities and teaching English abroad. They can organise travelling for a full gap year out or for just a few weeks, and there are hundreds of suggestions in the colourful Real Gap brochure or on the informative website (www.realgap.co.uk).
Last year, following a demand from more mature gappers, Gap Year for Grown Ups (www.gapyearforgrownups.co.uk) was launched. The only UK organisation specialising in time out for adults aged 30+, it offers projects aimed at those who want to take a career break, enjoy a fulfilling holiday, give something back or completely change their life. Already featured on BBC Radio 4, local radio stations, The Telegraph, The Times, the Mirror and the Guardian, Gap year for Grown Ups is well on the way to becoming as successful as its sister.
“We are delighted with our new premises in the centre of Tunbridge Wells,” commented Managing Director David Stitt. “We have big plans for the future, and now we have the space to put those plans into practice”.
