Orientation
At the start of your programme you will receive a local orientation, to go alongside your predeparture handbook. This orientation will be conducted by our local programme coordinator (your course instructor) and will cover the following areas:
- Course outline – structure of programme; what to expect; expected behaviour during shadowing sessions etc.
- CSI and NZSIA Stage 1 exam criteria
- Local area: Ohakune town and it’s various amenities
- Safety: how to remain safe during the course; ski areas to avoid; how to read threat of avalanche and signs etc.
- Expected behaviour and course commitment
Accommodation & Meals
All accommodation is included in the programme. You will stay in shared self-catering houses with other students from your course. In all cases, rooms will be private, however, friends can share on a twin basis if they request it. The houses are fully furnished, with cooking and washing facilities and all of the necessary modern conveniences.
Meals are not included on the course due to the varying schedules of each student and the need to be flexible to incorporate the weather. Students are encouraged to cater for themselves and should budget approximately £25/week for meals.
Project Age Limit
Minimum age 18, maximum age decided upon potential participant’s health.
