Real Gap's Peru Highlights

Peru is known for its rich Inca heritage that can still be appreciated in the multiple ruins and many traditions are still followed closely by some Peruvians. The Spanish buildings, colorful Andean markets and its ideal conditions for outdoor activities such as trekking, whitewater rafting and jungle explorations is what draws travellers to Peru.

Its most impressive landmarks are Machu Picchu, the Inca capital Cuzco, the Sacred Valley, the Colca Canyon, the Amazon Basin, the northern archaeological sites of Trujillo and Chiclayo, the enigmatic Nazca Lines, the trekkers' paradise of Huaraz, the capital city of Lima and Lake Titicaca.

Map of Peru

Cusco
Cusco is the archeological capital of America, a city which has an impressive number of archeological places in the surroundings of the old imperial city. Worship places, intihuatanas, water supplies, springs, puquios, platforms, rocks carved, roads and canals, it's impossible not to notice the importance that this city had in the Inca period.

The best way to kick off your time in Latin America is our Cultural and Language Experience Peru programme. It's an exciting way to learn the language, experience the local culture and make new friends.

Give something back to the disadvantaged communities living in Cusco take part in our Street Children Volunteer Project Peru or the Disabled children Volunteer Project.

Alternatively, choose to work with Peruvian animals, there are several programmes to choose from: Peru Coastal Dolphin Research, Rainforest Conservation Project Peru, Amazon Turtle Conservation

If volunteering isn't what your looking for them have a look at our Gap Year Expedition - Peru. It combines all of the main tourist sites in Peru in a 8 week round trip!
