Programme Location
Our Rugby Academy is based in the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, South Africa’s third largest city and arguably the most beautiful city in Africa. Cape Town is a rugby stronghold and is home to the Stormers, who compete in the Super 14 and are one of the leading teams of the Southern Hemisphere. Playing rugby at the academy is sure to develop your game and give you a great experience of playing sport in South Africa.

South Africa and Rugby
It is common knowledge in the rugby world that South Africa is one of the sport’s pioneering nations. Rugby is by far the biggest sport in South Africa and to many people there, it is the only sport! Thousands of people play rugby each week and there are more registered clubs in South Africa than most rugby playing countries. Rugby, therefore, is played and trained to a ferociously competitive level, with a vast strength in depth that enables the South African Union to field 5 sides in the Super 14 and to potentially have a few more!

South Africa is also one of the most popular gap year destinations. It has a lot to offer travellers of all types; from the wildlife enthusiast to the adventure sports adrenaline junkies. No matter what your interests are, there is something within touching distance of Cape Town to keep you occupied during your free time or to attract you before or after your programme.

Getting There
You will need to arrange your flights into Cape Town International Airport. Many airlines fly direct to Cape Town, whilst it is possible to also fly there via Johannesburg. If you need any assistance regarding flights, we are able to put you in touch with our flight partners. Contact Real Sport Experience for more information.
