Volunteer Role
As a volunteer you can help in a number of ways, from helping to teach children the valuable life skills that their families struggle to provide, to assisting a local carer or teacher at one of the childcare centres. All three are extremely rewarding!
The three main areas in which you can assist are:
1. Teaching – Many of the children who go to these childcare centres have never had any formal education. Therefore, part of your volunteer role will be to help teach these children the foundations of vital subjects such as English and maths.
2. Care giving – With most of the children in the area not receiving the attention they need at home, your role as a volunteer will be to give as much care and attention as possible, which is so important at their young age. This can be achieved through playing games and teaching them valuable life skills that will help them develop.
3. Centre development – You can also give valuable help in making these centres a far more appealing and fun place for the children to learn. Volunteers can get involved with painting educational murals, taking the children to the playground and helping with income generating projects and fundraising events that are essential to the long-term future of the centres.
