Programme Details
Your cricket training will comprise a mixture of the following:
- Analysis of your technical and tactical approach to cricket, to make sure your technique and stroke/bowling selection is correct according to the match conditions.
- Evaluation of your physical condition and your mentality in match preparation in order to ensure you are ready for every game you play.
- Speciality coaches are on hand, if you would like to focus on one particular facet of your game, such as batting, bowling (pace or spin) or wicket keeping.
The Stellenbosch University Sports Institute is a world-class training and support facility that enables top international athletes to perform at the highest level. It’s one of the leading sports institutes worldwide and can offer you unmatched training to develop and enhance your skills.
Weekend matches - Each Saturday you will represent one of the sides in the local premier competition or open grade, depending on your ability.
Optional School Coaching (paid work!) - In afternoons and some evenings you'll have the chance to help coach local kids, some of who are from townships, which greatly appreciate the opportunity it presents.
Your coaching team includes: Graeme Swann, Denesh Ramdin, Omar Henry, Shukri Conrad, William Jefferson and Justin Ontong.
What’s Included in the Programme Price
- Training under the supervision of a former & present international cricketers
- All accommodation (except during Christmas break)
- 2 meals per day, Monday – Saturday (except during Christmas break)
- Transfers to and from Cape Town Airport
- Daily use of academy minibus to and from practice (subject to minimum numbers)
- Traditional South African Braai (BBQ) upon arrival
- Wine tour
- Training kit; comprising t-shirts, shorts and caps.
- Use of world class facilities at Stellenbosch University Sports Performance Institute
- Individual hand-eye assessment & recommended remedial action from international expert
- Paid work coaching sessions at local schools and clubs
- Tickets to national league and international test matches
- Possibility of nets sessions with touring international teams
- Personal player assessment, with the use of hi-tech Dartfish video equipment
- Full gym membership
- Membership to local cricket team
What’s Not Included in the Programme Price
- International flights to Cape Town
- Fees for necessary visa
- Health and travel insurance, which must cover you for sports training
- Any trips/excursions above the mentioned itinerary
- Meals on Sunday
- Pocket money for additional food and drink (approx. £10 per day should be plenty).
