As a volunteer on this programme you can make a real difference to the local communities of St Lucia, South Africa. The area is heavily affected by the HIV/AIDS virus and help is required to educate the local population, care for the sick and support the high number of HIV/AIDS orphans. There will also be some involvement with additional projects aimed at supporting the local community, such as building and refurbishing schools.

I don't know where to start! As I am a trained teacher, I really enjoyed working at the Day Care Centre and developing the HIV Education course in the local school. It was great to participate in teaching training and develop lesson plans.

The volunteer house was superb. There was a good range of personalities and ages amongst the volunteers and the project leaders were wonderful. It was hard work but we all had plenty of fun.
