Cape Town, on South Africa's southwest coast, is arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town is set against the stunning backdrop of South Africa's famous Table Mountain. The idyllic landscape in this part of South Africa is also home to many of the vineyards that produce South Africa's world-renowned wine as well as some superb beaches. Cape Town is one of most South Africa's most cosmopolitan cities and has some of the country's best nightlife. One of the first things on your itinerary once you have arrived in Cape Town should be to climb Table Mountain. The mountain is also part of a nature reserve and there are some excellent walks along clearly marked wooden paths which help protect the unique plant life from any damage.
Cape Town is also the setting for several of Real Gap's most rewarding people-based volunteer projects. For example Real Gap's ‘South Africa Cape Town Volunteer' programme provides much-needed support to some of the most deprived communities in this part of South Africa. This project in South Africa is also different from many of Real Gap's other programmes in that volunteers get to stay with local families, and thus experience South Africa's culture from a very different perspective.
