If you are looking to volunteer and teach English to children, then Sri Lanka offers an excellent opportunity to do this. Children in rural Sri Lanka are eager for education.
Volunteers will teach children between 1 and 13 years old. There are also opportunities to organise extra-curricular activities in the afternoon such as music, drama, arts and sports.
Most of the English teaching Sri Lanka volunteer projects are close to the medieval city of Polonnaruwa. In your spare time you can visit the local archaeological ruins, go jungle trekking, biking, fishing or visit wild life parks. The children will get you involved with local life, and the 4 weeks will fly by. It is possible to extend your stay if you wish.
