Street Children Volunteer Project Peru
Cusco The enchanting city of Cusco sits perched amidst the clouds and the lush greenery of the Andes 11,000 feet above sea level, an everlasting legacy to Peru’s rich history.
Many international tourists are drawn to Cusco for its proximity to the famous Machu Picchu ruins & Inca Trail and its many Incan ruins and colonial architecture. Due to its high elevation, the weather is cool at night and sunny but cool during the day all year round. This, however, is the perfect excuse to explore the many street markets selling the exquisite wool sweaters and textiles for which the country is known!
Free time Free time is during the evenings and on the weekends. During this time you can take excursions to other parts of the country, or stay in Cusco to get to know the community more intimately.
Maike Mariscal, our onsite coordinator, can organise any tours or excursions (football matches, Machu Picchu & Sacred valley visits, horse riding, trips to indigenous villages etc) for you very cheaply, or you can travel independently with other volunteers at this project and other projects in Cusco.
Getting There You will need to arrive in Lima on the Saturday, where you will be met at the airport by one of our drivers. You will stay in Lima for one night from where you’ll be taken to the airport to catch your flight to Cusco on the Sunday.
