Swaziland Teaching Project
Getting involved in the Swaziland Teaching project allows you to really make a difference on a project that is in vital need of your support. This is a fun, worthwhile and rewarding experience for you, but more importantly you will be helping to improve the quality of life and future prospects for disadvantaged children.
Volunteer RoleYour role on the project will be to get involved with various activities within local schools in Swaziland that offer education to many young Swazis, generally aged between 6 and 14 years. You will be working towards providing these vulnerable children with hope of a positive future and supporting them in many different ways.
You will be helping to teach the children English and other relevant subjects that will improve their future prospects of employment. As primary schools are in the greatest need of support, the majority of placements will usually be within primary schools.
You may be working in timetabled conservational English lessons, shadowing a local teacher or even taking responsibility for teaching a class of young adults or children on your own. There are also various extra activities, including teaching the children practical agricultural skills, sports lessons, constructing basic shelters, water systems and other physical structures needed at the schools.
LocationThis project is based in the Ezulwini Valley in the two small towns of Ezulwini and Lobamba, Swaziland
Accommodation and MealsYour will be at a backpacker lodge, which is within 5km of most of the Teaching project placements and has stunning views. You will share your room with 3 of your fellow volunteers, in bunk beds and meals are included. There is also the opportunity available to you to spend some of your time at the project staying with a Swazi family.
