Project Location

Dar es Salaam, on the east coast of Tanzania.

Tanzania
Tanzania, a country steeped in culture and traditions, is an extremely popular destination with travellers and it’s not hard to see why. With its warm climate and highlights that include world class National Parks containing incredible wildlife, the breathtaking site of Mt. Kilimanjaro and its beautiful Indian Ocean coastline and paradise beaches, who could resist a visit! It is also worth bearing in mind that Tanzania remains a country of poverty, with a poorer infrastructure than the more economically developed Kenya.

Free Time
Your weekends are free for you to relax and spend time with the other volunteers. There are plenty of activities and things to do whilst in Dar es Salaam city. You may also choose to partake in one of the weekend safaris offered to you on the programme with your programme coordinator (these can be arranged in Tanzania). Alternatively, head to Zanzibar Island for some beach fun and diving!

Being in Tanzania means that you are close to Dar es Salaam, which is a major transport hub for overland tours as the gateway to Eastern and Southern Africa. We have tours that last from 7 days to 56. Please contact us to enquire about these options and we will be happy to send you further details and help you explore Africa in a safe and adventurous way.

Getting there
You will need to arrange your flights to Dar es Salaam International airport. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by one of the representatives at the project who will transfer you to the volunteer house by road.
