Tanzania Orphan and Street Children Project
Project Location Mwanza city (rural areas) on the edge of Lake Victoria
Tanzania Tanzania is known for its people’s hospitality and friendliness. The country has a great variety of landscapes and highlights that make it a very popular destination with travellers.
These include the vast open plains of the Serengeti, magnificent wildlife reserves such as the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park and the less explored parks to the South, and Mt. Kilimanjaro; the highest peak in Africa and a real attraction for keen hikers. Another draw is Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world and where you will be based during your stay.
Weekend travel There are a number of highlights that you may like to see in your free time at weekends, such as National Parks, or the Museums. The project staff will be happy to help you organise excursions while you are there, so please discuss the options with them.
Alternatively, you may wish to just relax by Lake Victoria. There are a number of small lodges offering water sports and other activities on the lake.
Getting There You will need to arrange your flights to Mwanza Airport, Tanzania. Upon arrival you will have a meet and greet with one of the project representatives at Mwanza Airport. The journey from the airport to the volunteer house is about 15 minutes by road.
