Teach English in Brazil
In our Brazil teaching English programme, you will be working with local children in a Community Education Centre in the Pavão - Pavãozinho community in the South Zone of Rio, which cares for 353 children from ages 3 months to 18 years. The purpose is to provide education and preventative healthcare, full-time, to children and their families who are in social risk situations. The centre consists of 7 buildings, including a day-care centre, elementary school, high school, education centre, school library, theatre, numerous classrooms for fine arts, culture and sports centre, and a swimming pool under construction.
The community centre’s mission is to mentor students and support families in order to develop future community peace and well-being.
The Volunteer RoleThe Brazil volunteer project is located in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, on Brazil’s Atlantic coast. As a volunteer, you will be working directly with the children, helping with all ages from infants to teenagers. Volunteers will be assisting in the English education programme at the centre, including teaching classes, tutoring students, and helping organize scholastic activities. You may also be given the responsibility of teaching your own individual class if the need arises!
Project Location
You will be based at the Community Education Centre in the Pavão-Pavãozinho favelas in the Southern Zone of Rio on Brazil’s Atlantic coast.
