Accommodation and meals

There are three Eco houses in total, the lemon house, twin house and brown house. You will be allocated to one of them. They are located about 5km apart from each other.

We will e-mail you a couple of weeks before you depart with details of which house you will be staying in and contact details of all the other people staying at the same house as you. So if you are travelling with a friend or partner, please remember to tell us so that we don’t split you up – unless you want us to!

The houses sleep from 20 to 50 people. All houses have dorm rooms with the number of beds ranging from three to twelve.

All houses have western style toilets and some Asian toilets. Each bathroom has a shower and the water is always cool – nice and refreshing in the heat. All houses have a communal area where you can eat, relax and meet.

The doors and windows are screened (to protect you from mosquitoes). There are fans in the room, as it can get very warm.

Alternatively, if you would like to, you will be able to stay with a local Thai family, to give you a true feel for what daily life is like in Thailand.

Whichever accommodation you choose, you will have transport arranged for you to get you to the orphanage every day. You should expect to leave your accommodation at 8-9am and get back around mid-afternoon.

Free time

There will be plenty of free time for you to explore the local area. The evenings at Eco House are your time. You can chat to other travellers, play cards, write your diary, read and generally chill out. Some people bring their iPod with speakers. The neighbours have set up a bar near the Eco House, so you could always enjoy a beer, or two.

During the programme you will have free time at weekends. You are free to do your own thing together with other volunteers. If you require any advice about places to visit/things to do in your free time, please feel free to use the co-ordinators local knowledge – they are more than happy to help!

Project Age Limit

Minimum of 18 years, maximum dependent on health of participant.
