Project Age Limit
Minimum of 18 years, maximum dependent on health of participant.

Thailand Schools
Schools such as the ones that you will be volunteering at are not given a sufficient amount of money by the government to be able to afford to pay an English teacher’s salary and so they depend on volunteers to teach English- a qualification that would be extremely beneficial to all of the villagers – especially the children who would have a greater chance of getting a better paid job in the future.

School Holidays
Please be aware of the following school holidays.

  • Mid-end of February until mid-May
  • 12–17 April (Thai New Year)
  • End of September/Beginning of October – End of October/beginning of November

If you are on the programme during this time or during any examination periods you will be teaching English to the local community and village children rather than in a school/classroom environment.  You will teach the children at either one of the Eco Houses or an alternative camp.

Accommodation and meals
There are three Eco houses in total, the lemon house, twin house and brown house.  You will be allocated to one of them.  They are located about 5km apart from each other.

We will e-mail you a couple of weeks before you depart with details of which house you will be staying in and contact details of all the other people staying at the same house as you. So if you are travelling with a friend or partner, please remember to tell us so that we don’t split you up – unless you want us to!

The houses sleep from 20 to 50 people.  All houses have dorm rooms with the number of beds ranging from three to twelve.

All houses have western style toilets and some Asian toilets. Each bathroom has a shower and the water is always cool – nice and refreshing in the heat.  All houses have a communal area where you can eat, relax and meet.

The doors and windows are screened (to protect you from mosquitoes). There are fans in the room, as it can get very warm.

Alternatively, if you would like to, you will be able to stay with a local Thai family, to give you a true feel for what daily life is like in Thailand.

Whichever accommodation you choose, you will have transport arranged for you to get you to the orphanage every day. You should expect to leave your accommodation at 8-9am and get back around mid-afternoon.
