Teach and Earn in China

This programme starts with a 4-week introduction and training period, which will help you become a committed and confident teacher. The training will be mainly focused on how to manage a class, what you will be teaching and how to conduct yourself in the classroom.

Teacher Training

1. The General Introduction: You will get to know the staff and be introduced to fellow participants, followed by an introduction to the local area. You will gain understanding of customs and culture as well as receiving ‘survival’ Chinese lessons!

2. Chinese Culture: You will then be given a more in depth introduction to the school systems, planning lessons, student psychology. You will get involved in activities like staying with a family for a night to get a taste of Chinese home life.

3. Learning How to Teach: You will learn more about how to teach the students and you will be able to observe lessons that are lead by Chinese teachers as well as foreign teachers.

4. The Teaching Practice: This is when you get to try out some of the skills that you have learned by teaching to your peers as practice, as well as helping teachers in the local schools. This is done so that you will start your placement as a more confident teacher.

Teaching

We work with schools in Zhuhai City but there are opportunities for you to teach in other parts of China. The schools are usually quite large with up to 50 students per class and are a mixture of private and government schools.

Location

This programme is based in Zhuhai City, which is located in the south of Guangdong province. It is located right next door to Macau and is only a one-hour boat trip away from Hong Kong.

Accommodation and Meals

During the training period, you will be living at a hostel in twin-share accommodation. Food is provided at the University canteen. Once the training has been completed participants are expected to cover their own living expenses, our staff and placement school will assist you in finding accommodation.
