Thai Culture and Dive Programme

Orientation

When you arrive at the eco-house in Singburi you will be shown to your rooms. All rooms are dormitory style with the number of beds in a room ranging from three to twelve. There aren’t any single, or twin share rooms. Whilst staying at the eco-house, males and females are not allowed to stay in the same rooms.

There will be time to relax, take a shower and unpack. There will be an informal meeting after dinner to basically welcome you and to inform you of things like what time breakfast is served. The orientation meeting will be the following day.

There are two co-ordinators at each house. The co-ordinators are friendly local Thais. They are there to show you around, introduce you to Thailand, answer any of your questions and ensure you have a good time. They really make this programme a special and unique one.

Accommodation and Meals

Your new home will be one of our 3 ‘Eco Houses’ in Singburi in central Thailand – the Lemon House (top), the Twin House (middle) and the Brown House (bottom).

This camp is situated about 10 km from the town of Singburi and takes about 15 minutes from the eco-houses you will be staying in. In Singburi you will find all the amenities you could need i.e. internet, shops, swimming pool, hospital, pharmacy, banks and restaurants. There are plenty of trips into Singburi or you can easily take a taxi.

The houses sleep from 20 to 50 people. All houses have dorm rooms with the number of beds ranging from 3 to 12. All houses have western style toilets and one even as an Asian toilet! Each bathroom has a shower and the water is always cool – nice and refreshing in the heat. All houses have a communal area where you can eat, relax and meet.

Most of the houses are within walking distance of a local shop and a make shift bar provided by the friendly locals.

The doors and windows are screened (to protect you from mosquitoes). There are fans in the rooms.

Accommodation on Koh Tao
You will stay in a popular village resort on Haat Sai Ree. The rooms are seconds away from the white sandy beach and are close to all of the local restaurants and bars.

Free Time

Throughout your programme, you will have plenty of free time in which to relax and explore. We encourage you to make the most of your amazing surroundings and seize the opportunity to take in as much as you can.

Whilst at the Eco Houses, you can sunbathe in the garden, read a book, catch up with friends or visit the town of Singburi to catch up on your e-mails. It is easy to arrange another weekend in the capital, as Singburi is only two hours away from Bangkok.

During your dive week on Ko Tao, you will have the chance to soak up the sun on the beautiful beaches and take part in a range of water sports. The island is also home to a variety of exciting eateries, serving Italian and French food as well as authentic Thai cuisine, and to a vibrant nightlife, including three big bars (AC, Maya and Intouch), that alternate party nights between them.

Project Support

Throughout your stay in Thailand you will have the support and guidance of our local programme coordinators. They will provide you with competent assistance and help you with any questions or advice you may need during your stay. The school staff will be on hand throughout the day and the sports coordinator will be with you to offer any other assistance.

In addition, we will provide you with a 24 hour emergency contact number before you depart, so that you can contact one of our UK staff at any time should you need to.
