Thailand Wildlife and Gibbon Rescue

Trip code: THWR

The aim of the centre is to rescue wild animals from places where they are being neglected and/or maltreated. The centre provides the animals with enclosures to live in that are as close to their own natural environment as possible. The animals are given the best possible care and they strive to care for all of Thailand’s animals, in particular the sick and disabled ones that no-one else is prepared to care for.

Country Information

The Kingdom of Thailand, with a population of 65 million people, is located in the heart of Southeast Asia and shares borders with Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Myanmar.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty complemented by impressive architecture, including striking temples. The country is also well known for its appetising food and the people renowned for their friendly manner.

Time
Thailand is 7 hours ahead of GMT.

Thai people are very informal and at the same time very creative and care free.  So be aware that plans can change without clear reason and be prepared to be flexible.

Getting There

Your will need to arrange your flights to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. On arrival at the airport you will be met in arrivals by one of the rescue centre chauffeurs. You will then receive a transfer to the rescue centre, which takes between 2 to 4 hours depending on the traffic (for this reason airport pick-ups can only be arranged for flights arriving before 6pm.)

If you are entering Thailand overland, or already travelling in Thailand prior to the start of the programme, then it is also possible for you to be collected from a hotel in Bangkok.

Climate

In general it is hot all year round. On average the temperature is around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity is high all the time.

Due to the monsoon climate, there is a rainy season lasting from the end of July to the end of October. March is the hottest month of the year. If you are going during the monsoon, don’t worry there is plenty of sun in between the showers.
