Your project is located in the Moshi area of Northern Tanzania in a rural community. Moshi town renowned for its coffee growing based at the foot of the mighty Mouth Kilimanjaro and home to the local Chagga people of Africa.

Tanzania
Tanzania is a country rich in culture and traditions.  With its magnificent world class National Parks, superb wildlife safaris, the Indian Ocean coastline, tropical beaches of Zanzibar Island and warm climate… it’s no wonder this is such a great destination.  Yet Tanzania is very poor and its infrastructure needs help.  While its people are not hungry, they lack education and many other things we in the west take for granted.

Kilimanjaro is one of the most famous mountains in the world, the highest freestanding volcano in the world and the highest mountain in Africa. It will take 7 days to trek up and down Kili and 5 on Mt Meru. Both climbs are a real challenge and to stand on the summit of either and watch the sun rise over Africa is emotional and a lifetime experience to say the least.

Free Time
As a rule, the weekends will be your own to relax and whilst in Tanzania you will have the opportunity to explore Moshi and get a real feel for the culture. There are a few bars and restaurants in the area to for some socialising at weekends.

If you opt to add Zanzibar on to your itinerary, then this is your real chance for some serious R&R at the end of all your hard work! We have included a day snorkelling in the Indian Ocean and looking for wild dolphins, typically on the south of the island but much of your time is spent at Nungwi, which can only be described as beach paradise, at the north of the Island. Your Zanzibar phase is bed and breakfast only so you can choose how you spend your days on the beach.

Getting There
You will need to arrange your flights to arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, Tanzania.  Here you will be met and taken to your project accommodation.  The next day you will start your 2-day orientation.

Once your programme has finished, you will be transferred back to Kilimanjaro Airport to make your way home.
