Name: Tim Norman
Programme: Ghana Football Volunteers
Dates: 25th February - 2nd April 2007

How did you feel before you joined the programme?
I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect but after Real Gap gave me plenty of information I felt a lot better and happy to join the programme. Real Gap assisted me by giving me information on the programme e.g. what to bring, what to expect and how to cope with the culture shock.

What was the accommodation like?
I stayed with a host family and I couldn't complain at all - I had a real good stay there. I shared a room with another volunteer who helped me a lot. The family were brilliant and I couldn't have asked for any better.

What did you think of the programme?
The trip was a complete success and I would love to go back out there. It was great to see the different style of football and how the players trained.

I had lots of memorable memories so it would be hard to pick out one but one thing I would say I will always remember is the Ghana citizens, they were all so friendly.

How have you benefited from your experience?
Since I've been back a lot of people have said to me that I have changed and become a better person for the trip. I have now realised how lucky we are in this country and because of my experience in Ghana I do not take things for granted. I believe I am a better person and it has given me a lot more independence.

What advice could you offer to someone considering this project?
This will be a massive experience in your life, which you will always remember.
