Travel alone
Travel alone? Who? Me? Never! You'd be surprised how many people think that, then go on to travel alone in Australia, South America or Asia (or all three!) during their gap year. And what's more, they have the time of their lives!
Understandably, travelling alone is one of the scariest parts of a gap year - for you and your parents. We've created a list of some of the most commonly asked questions.
 |
Should I travel alone? Most definitely. If you decide to travel alone, it won't always be easy but you'll learn to deal with unfamiliar problems and hopefully, will become more confident about tackling familiar problems back at home.
Will I be safe if I travel alone? Almost certainly, yes. We can't give you a cast iron guarantee that if you travel alone you will be 100 per cent safe at all times, but then you wouldn't get that if you decided not to travel, and just stayed at home! |
If you're sensible about travelling alone, you have very little to worry about. Our safety course is designed to give extra peace of mind to gap year students who want to travel alone.
Will I feel lonely if I travel alone?
Maybe sometimes, but not for long! Travel alone and you're immediately one of a huge community. Thousands, even millions, of people are travelling alone right now and you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet them. For example, you could use a bus pass to explore a country and meet a whole busful of like-minded people!
Still unsure if you want to travel alone? Give one of our travel advisers a call and ask them as many questions as you like. They'll be happy to help!
