Malaysia Turtle and Dive

Trip code: MYTD

A green turtle swims up to 1,000 miles to the beach they intend to lay their eggs on. After finding the beach it takes 1 hour for the turtle to reach a suitable place and they then spend 3 hours laying their eggs before the further 1 hour return trip back to the sea.

Orientation

Upon arrival into Kuala Lumpur, you will be met and taken for a welcome lunch or dinner. There will then be an orientation session with information about the project and the available opportunities, including:

  • An introduction to Malaysia culture and values
  • Your health and safety whilst in Malaysia
  • Workplace ethics and essentials information before starting your project
  • Money and transportation in Malaysia
  • An introduction to the area where you will be working
  • Local food and practices
  • Areas of Malaysia worth visiting in your free time

Accommodation and Meals

The accommodation in Perhentian is a fan room in a wooden chalet for single or up to 4 persons sharing. There is running cold water which is refreshing as it can be hot and sticky there. The toilets are western style and bathrooms are small but conveniently attached to the chalets. Linen and pillows are provided.

Free Time

For nightlife you can either organise your own party with the team and other guests or head for Long Beach on the smaller Perhentian Island. Bubu Long Beach hotel has a good bar and happening nightlife. Take a water taxi there for about £4. You can also visit the village on the small Perhentian Island to buy provisions. You can visit Coral View hotel if you wish to have a hearty lunch, jungle trek and also check email. You can also check your email on the mainland at Kuala Besut.

Project Support

Throughout your stay in Malaysia you will have the support and guidance of our coordinator and team. You will be provided with competent assistance and help with any questions or advice you may need during your stay.

In addition you will have access to a 24 hour emergency contact number so you can contact one of our UK staff at any time should you need to.
