Volunteer Role
This project gives volunteers the opportunity to spend some time living as a community member and helping out with various projects and activities. Duties and activities that you will be involved with include:
- Conservation activities such as research and protection of wildlife
- Sustainable community development projects
- Talking to members of the indigenous communities with respect to the protection of river basins and water sources and relative wildlife
- Reforestation of areas affected by burning or mining activities, indigenous gardening
- Teaching English to Pemon Indian tourist guides and schoolchildren
- Building and maintenance work on communal infrastructure
- Initiate an environmental education program and exchanging knowledge of the rainforest and
- savannah habitat
What’s Included in the Programme
- Transfer from Caracas International airport to bus terminal
- Bus from Caracas to Santa Elena
- Volunteer placement
- Accommodation

- Full support and 24 hour back up from our local staff
- Orientation, continual supervision and regular briefings
- Certificate and/or written reference
What’s Not Included in the Programme
- Personal travel insurance for the duration of your placement
- All flights
- All items of a personal nature, such as curios, gifts, clothing (work and other)
- E-mail/Internet and telephone calls
- Soft drinks, beer, wines and spirits
- Any excursions over and above the planned itinerary in Venezuela
Please note: The project cost only covers your one-way travel and hotel stay down to Santa Elena from Caracas. If you would like to add on a return package (which would cover your return bus ticket, transfers and hotel stay in Caracas), please contact us. This is an additional payment of £120 / 162€.
