Gap Year Brochure

Vietnam is many different things, the hustle and bustle in Hanoi, the peaceful settings of the world heritage sites like the tomb of Minh Mang, beautiful islands and beaches and over 2000 miles of coastline, nature parks to visit and opportunities for adventure activities.  Above all it's the welcoming people and unusual, yet tasty food your likely to remember!

Real Gap's Vietnam Highlights

Hanoi
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and the city has many beautiful spots. The city of the lakes, as it is locally known is a spectacular sight, particularly at sunset. The numerous decorative pagodas' are spectacular and help you to begin to understand some of the unique history Vietnam offers.

Hanoi is a popular stop over with foreigners as it is close to other well-known towns for example Ha Long Bay and Sapa.

Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay is world famous and should be included in any trip to Vietnam, the 3,000 Islands will do nothing but impress you, the best time to visit is Spring/Summer. Local legends say Ha Long Bay was formed after a dragon arrived to protect Hai Phong from the Chinese invaders. Ha Long Bay is a symbol for Vietnamese and further similar legends surround a few specific islands in the bay.

Sapa
The Mountainous region of Sapa is perfect for those who love hiking, it is famous for it's traditional Saturday market.  Sapa oozes with traditional Vietnamese culture and although you must go on a trek to experience the true tribal villages, many People who live in the region still use their traditional clothes.

Map of Vietnam

Each tribe speaks it own language and the tribe people belong to a different ethnic group than the rest of the Vietnamese people. Locals still live a very basic life, with most of them working on the fields during the day.

The Vietnam Experience offers you the unique opportunity to experience the real Vietnamese charm; go trekking, visit Ha Long Bay, learn to cook Vietnamese,
teach English, visits to markets, caves and temples are just some of the highlights of this programme
