Ukraine Orphanage Project

This is a great opportunity for you to make an impact to the orphan’s lives! Many of these orphans came from abusive and violent backgrounds. Parents who were drug addicts or alcoholics abandoned many of them.

It’s a sad fact that many orphans take their own lives or are so desperate they turn to prostitution or crime. With your help they can be encouraged to gain life and employment skills and feel accepted and part of the society.

Volunteer Role
There are different activities you can get involved with as a volunteer in Ukraine. You can help teach English, play with the children and arrange extra classes such as dance/music/drama and sports.

Help is also needed to communicate the importance of protecting the environment. In the summer the children stay in summer camps and other activities can be done in the orphanage, such as caring for the disabled children there.

Project Location

There are 3 orphanages to choose from. You have the option to work in all three orphanages or spend your time in just the one.

All the orphanages are located near the capital, Kiev, in the towns of Irpin, Chigirin and Cherkasy.

Accommodation and Meals

You will be staying with a friendly host family in a 2 or 3-bedroom apartment with shared bathroom amenities. At least one member of the family speaks some English. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Ukrainian culture and life style and you will become part of the community.

Your host family will provide breakfast and dinner. You can buy your lunch in a local shop or café. There are loads to choose from and it is cheap, too (about 2-3 pounds).

Programme Summary:
Brighten the lives of underprivileged young children in Ukraine. Help teach English, play games with the children and generally show them the care they may have lacked in their lives so far.
