Volunteer Projects with Children

Gap Year Brochure

Some of the most rewarding programmes Real Gap offers are our volunteer projects with children. We have various different volunteer projects with children in many countries all over the world - all of which are dedicated to providing help and support to impoverished or disadvantaged kids.

Voluntary Work With Children

The best thing about getting involved with volunteer projects with children is that it enables you to be a responsible tourist and make a positive contribution to some of the countries you visit on your gap year. It's a sad fact of life that you'll encounter children living in poverty in many countries commonly frequented by backpackers and it's not always easy to know how best to react in such a situation - so working as a volunteer with children offers the chance to support these underprivileged children.

Real Gap's volunteer projects with children all aim to offer ongoing support to the children they're helping (so if you assist with any volunteer projects with children your efforts will make much more of a difference to the lives of the kids you're helping than the very temporary solution of giving them spare change or gifts on the street).

Working on volunteer projects with children is also an extremely positive experience for the volunteers themselves. Many of the kids you meet on volunteer projects with children are a great deal of fun and the strength of character and spirit they display despite the problems they've faced in their lives is simply inspirational. Also, because working on volunteer projects with children involves working with them on a daily basis you gain a unique insight in to local culture (which makes for a far more authentic gap year travel experience). What's more working as a volunteer abroad is a great way to meet other like-minded volunteers (and the social life is usually excellent).

If you think you would like to work on volunteer projects with children on your gap year the biggest decision you'll have to make is which one to choose. Real Gap offers a multitude of volunteer projects with children. We have volunteer projects in Asia, volunteer projects in Africa, and volunteer projects in South America, all focussing on offering support to underprivileged children from deprived areas. Whichever programme you decide to go for by getting involved with volunteer projects with children you'll be making a real difference to other peoples' lives on your gap year - as well as your own.
