Unlike longstanding charities, such as VSO, that can receive around £28 million a year from Government funding to implement charitable work, Real Gap receives no funding from outside sources.
Costs vary from programme to programme depending on destination, duration and programme particulars. Your money is used to cover the costs of developing and managing the REAL business, services on the ground, such as food, accommodation, local transport, and coordinators, and of course, project donations.
Real Gap works efficiently to ensure that we can send the most possible to the projects. When Real Gap identifies, or is approached by, individual institutions, it is the time, enthusiasm and skills of the volunteers that they are primarily seeking and not financial aid.
As a Gap and volunteer travel company, this is our primary objective, sending volunteers to these projects. However, in contrast to most other Gap and volunteer companies, we do see value in incorporating a financial donation to the projects in the volunteer fee. This varies from project to project and is essentially determined by the project managers, or our in-country partner.
Thanks to its continued growth, Real Gap has now been able to set up the Real Gap Global Development Fund, making it even easier for people to make a donation and facilitate the progress of the many worthwhile programmes we run and continue to develop.
The success of REAL directly contributes towards the success of our partner projects. We are committed to running a lean and efficient business, focused on our customers and our charitable partners. The REAL Development Fund contributes thousands of pounds of aid to projects around the world.
