Safety is really important when you're abroad, and yes there are a few places that are not considered safe places for tourists to go, but you will find that Real Gap does not send travellers to these places.
The thing to remember, though, is that there are places in the UK that aren't considered particularly safe to wander about - places where you wouldn't go and wander about in on your own - and the same applies whilst your abroad.
If you hear that somewhere is not safe, then don't go there! If you are sensible and take the necessary pre-cautions (not flashing about your expensive stuff, not walking alone at night, keeping an eye on your belongings in busy public places) then you are going to be absolutely fine.
As for countries that are unsafe to go to, Real Gap constantly monitors the situation in the countries where our projects are.
If you are unsure about the countries that you are visiting check www.fco.org.uk (the Home, Foreign and Commonwealth Office) where you will find up to date travel information on all countries.
