Who takes a gap year?
|

|
Many people taking a gap year have either just finished their A-levels and want some time out before starting university or, similarly, have just finished university and want to do the same before starting their full-time working career.
However, more and more people of all ages and from all walks of life are now seeing the benefits of a career break or gap year and deciding to go for it.
Some people travel on their own, some as a couple and some with a group of mates. Travelling alone may seem daunting but, in reality, it's usually easier to get chatting to people if you're on your own. You can be a lot more flexible when it comes to decision-making - you've no one else to answer to but yourself!
Career breaks are becoming increasingly popular. Many companies are realising their value and are offering sabbaticals to staff as an incentive benefit.
Older people who never took a gap year when they were young are realising it's never too late, and taking a career break later in life, or possibly choosing to travel round the world following their retirement. If this is you, then visit our Gap Year for Grown Ups site, where we offer plenty of opportunities for a career break, whether you want to volunteer, teach, work or just travel!
