The project is located near East London on the east coast of South Africa.
The Wild Coast The Wild Coast region is situated between Durban and East London on the east coast of South Africa. Located in what was once the Transkei homeland, the Wild Coast boasts some of the most dramatic coastline in Africa. In order to ensure a consistent labour pool, most of its inhabitants were largely denied access to equal opportunities within society, and therefore this region has historically remained deliberately underdeveloped. For the most part the region today is an undeveloped, underprivileged, rural enclave within the greater South Africa. The Wild Coast is a destination recognised for its strong AmaXhosa culture, vibrant population, environmental significance, and its developmental importance in the newly established democratic South Africa.
Climate Temperatures range from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius in the summer; rain falls in brief thundery showers, but it’s sunny most of the time. In the winter it’s mild, with daytime temperatures in the 20s.

A number of experiences ranging from day trips to multi-day tours, overnight village stays to 4 and 5-day hiking trails, cultural and adventure tours for the energetic and the not so energetic can be arranged on your project, at the local backpackers.
Being in South Africa means that you are close to Johannesburg, which is a major transport hub for overland tours. We have a number of different tours to choose from which could take you up into Botswana, through Zambia and Zimbabwe to the mighty Victoria falls and even take you all the way to Nairobi: We have tours that last from 7 days to 56. Please contact us to enquire about these options and we will be happy to send you further details and help you explore Africa in a safe and adventurous way.
Getting There You will need to fly into East London Airport in South Africa, via Johannesburg. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport by one of our African representatives and transferred by road (about 40 minutes drive) to the backpackers lodge where you will relax before starting your orientation.
