Gap Year BrochureWork in America

One option for a gap year or career break that many consider is to work in America. The good news is that it is possible to work in America. The bad news is that working in America is far less of a straightforward visa application process than, say, that of Australia or New Zealand. The USA is often referred to as the ‘land of the free' but if you want to work in America the reality is that its one of the hardest places for which to get a visa. If you saw the movie ‘Green Card' you'll know what we're talking about! There are two main schemes make working in America easier.

Work in America as a student

If you are a student currently on a college or university course, and will be returning to full-time study after the summer, one excellent way to work in America is to join our ‘Student Summer Programme.' There is a wide variety or work in America available under this scheme and accommodation is usually provided. There is also plenty of choice as to where exactly you will be working in the USA. After you finish your work in America there is ample time to go off and do some travelling before you return home. It's a great way to have fun, make some money and see the USA at the same time.

Work in America under the Career Training scheme

The basic idea behind this scheme is to let international candidates work in America as part of a work placement. Participants receive on-the-job training in their profession, with an emphasis on learning American techniques and ways of doing business. When you work in America you'll be paid the same rate as an American doing the same job, meaning you'll have enough spare money to enjoy your life in the USA. After your work in the America ends you're given a 30-day travel break, allowing you plenty of time to explore the USA in-depth before you return home.
