Gap Year BrochureWork with animals

Some of our most popular gap year volunteer projects give the chance to work with animals. If working with animals is how you'd like to spend your gap year then we have a huge range of programmes to choose from.
Work with animals in Africa

Unsurprisingly Africa is an extremely popular place in which to work with animals.

There are all sorts of opportunities in Africa to work with animals. These projects range from helping in a Monkey Rehabilitation Centre to the helping with the safety of Desert Elephant Conservation. One particularly good place to work with animals in Africa is at the Noah's Ark Wildlife Conservation wild animal sanctuary in Namibia, where a variety of orphaned and abandoned animals are cared for.

Work with animals in South America

There are also a number of opportunities to work with animals in South and Central America.
For example, there is a Giant Tortoise Volunteer Project in the Galapagos Islands or a Dolphin Conservation Programme in Peru. You can work with animals at a rescue centre or get involved with wildlife projects. What all of these projects are looking for, above all else, is a genuine enthusiasm for work with animals.

Work with animals in Asia

There are many exciting opportunities to work with animals in Asia.
Asia is an extremely diverse place and so it follows that out work with animals volunteer programmes are varied too.

You can work with marine animals on our Turtle and Dive programme in Malaysia or interact with Orang-utans in Borneo on the Orang-utan Interaction Volunteer Programme. If you would like a bit more diversity you could work with animals on our Zoo Assistant programme in Kuala Lumpur, where you will get hands-on with a variety of animals.

Work with animals in Australia

Australia is a brilliant place to work with animals. You can work with animals on a ranch in the Aussie outback on our Jackaroo / Jillaroo programme. You can learn how to ride a horse, sheer a sheep and use a lasso!
