Year off expeditions
Year off expeditions are an ideal way to completely get away from it all and really challenge yourself on your gap year travel. Year off expeditions provide travellers with a more ‘real' travel experience by visiting areas away from the usual beaten track and getting involved with local communities. Real Gap operates year off expeditions in several countries - all of which are part of the ‘Real Gap Year Expedition Abroad' programme.
The ‘Expeditions Abroad' year off expeditions also aim to be different by visiting places that many other overland trips never get to. This isn't to say that year off expeditions don't take in all of the essential ‘must see' sights - they definitely do - but they also aim to provide a more a different and intrepid experience for more adventurous people who really want to challenge themselves on a gap year.

One of Real Gap's most exciting and varied year off expeditions is in India. The year off expedition to India includes a tiger safari, a six-day trek in the Himalaya Mountains and a journey by elephant to the Amber Fort in Jaipur. What really makes this year off expedition so unique is that a two-month stay in an Indian village close to the hill station of Darjeeling. Travellers on the India year off expedition teach English in the village school and become an integral part of the community.
