Why do a community volunteer project? These projects provide an opportunity to experience the Real Africa and help people and communities less fortunate than you. The Zambian people are warm and friendly and will welcome you into their community, allowing you to learn firsthand about their culture. You will be able to enjoy your visit to Africa at the same time as giving something back.
Where is the community volunteer project? The Zambian Teaching Programme is located in Livingstone, also known as the adventure capital of Africa, close to the banks of the mighty Zambezi River and the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Where will I stay? You will be staying in a shared volunteer house, with other volunteers from your programme. We have two volunteer houses in Livingstone both of which are large, safe and spacious.
This is a great chance for you to relax in your own environment with the other volunteers and feel at home whilst you are away, just chilling out over dinner, watching TV etc. All meals, laundry and transportation to and from your project will be provided.
When can I volunteer? The community volunteer project runs throughout the year, so start dates are available every month. Whether you are taking a full gap year, a short holiday to Africa or want a summer job abroad, this placement would be a great volunteer experience for you.
Who volunteers on this project? Volunteers from all backgrounds and of all ages take part in our volunteer projects in Africa. Students on gap years, professionals on career breaks and retirees are all welcome, with no maximum age limit, as long as you are fit and healthy. Most volunteers come from Europe and Australia.
