Zambia Teaching Volunteers

Trip code: ZATO

This project is a wonderful community programme, combining a variety of teaching opportunities in a number of schools, whilst also allowing you to partake in a range of after-school activities with young children. This programme works alongside a large number of local children from the surrounding villages and towns to help develop literacy, sports and education to those who need it most, living in Zambia’s poor communities.

I loved the program, I was very lucky with my placemenet at Livingstone School and I had a great experience. I loved the people and hope to come back.

Have so many memories of the trip. My first day at school is definitely memorable as the children were so welcoming. Also the weekend activities were all memorable, standing on the edge of Victoria falls, riding an elephant, doing a gorge swing, white water rafting on the Zambezi and being able to float down river in just a life jacket all feature highly in my memories.

It seems in Britain we've formed a picture of Africa that doesn't really exist; Livingstone is not a place where danger lurks around every corner. In fact I feel a lot safer here than I do in London.
From my experience at the school I find the people in Zambia very welcoming and friendly and I'm sure that the same will be found at the medical centre. The nurses were friendly on my visit there.

Been back in UK for couple of weeks now and I'm still heart broken about leaving Africa! I cant thank you enough for all your help with my trip; I can honestly say it's been the most amazing experience of my life (so far!).
