Hannah in Zimbabwe: Rhino and Elephant Conservation

Why did you pick the project?

The variety of this trip really interested me and the fact that the project was so hands on was great! You truly got to experience “reserve life” and got to know the animals, staff and children well.

Highlight?

How could I choose?! Seeing Tafika the black rhino on her 4 month birthday, dancing with the locals during a traditional Shona culture evening, meeting amazing people, having Tatenda the rhino living right next door... the list goes on!

Typical day?

RG's Laura: What To Expect From Life in Fiji

Want to live on a desert island? Wake up to the sound of sassy waves, kick back in a bure for a week and sample the South Pacific life? (Nope, this is not a trick question. I REPEAT, THIS ACTUALLY EXISTS).

Somehow I jammily managed to take eight weeks off to travel solo around the world (hey what can I say, it's one of the perks of working for a gap year company!) and after making my way around Asia for two weeks - which truthfully, mainly involved stroking elephants, wolfing down pad thai...

I stumbled across Real Gap in 2010 whilst browsing for trips to USA online, like so many of us, I needed something to get...

1• Sea turtles have roamed the planet for around 100 million years surviving the Ice Age

2• Turtles migrate 100s of miles (if not thousands) from their feeding ground to nest – with modest vision, strong currents and no visible landmarks. These turtles manage to swim from areas like Australia to South...

Real Gap takes a Gap Year! (Bye Laura!)

For the last two and a half years, I’ve been the sarcy so n’ so who’s been sitting behind Facebook, telling you all to go travelling - chucking out inspirational quote after inspirational quote. ‘Go solo!’, I say. ‘Head here!’ I say. Except, I haven’t actually *done it* on my own. Yet.

I've always loved travelling, and since I rocked up at Real Gap back in 2012 I’ve travelled to (deep breath): Australia, Borneo, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Morocco, Greece, Dubai, the US and Iceland– but now...
