Unfortunately, 'social media geek' just happens to be Laura's middle name. She's the one who talks to you lovely lot over on the Real Gap Facebook and Twitter pages, and hearing about all of your amazing adventures has given her extremely itchy feet!

She's a big music fan with questionable taste, you'll often find her screaming her face off at gigs - especially during festival season. As expected she's a travel obsessive- with her favourite trips seeing her through the West Coast of the US,  South East of Asia and along the Garden Route in South Africa. Kota Kinabalu (Borneo), Santa Barbara and Hong Kong are her ultimate favourites, but you'll always find her planning her next adventure!

We’re all serious travelholics here in the Real Gap office. Last week RG’s Hannah got back from touring around Sri Lanka, Alex had been sunning it up in Cape Verde, Nicky was city breaking in the glamorous New York and on Monday Rob landed back in the UK from Cape Town. Trust us, it’s hard to keep track of where we’re all off to!

Since last May I’ve been counting down my massive trip to Australia. It’s always felt...

Looking to do something completely out of your comfort zone this year? (Yep, us too!). Life can get a little dry without a bit of adventure, and travelling is all about packing those incredible experiences under your belt and ‘really’ seeing the world!

Adventure, we smelt you a mile off! Check out these wicked adventures that we think YOU should try this year…

Here at Team RG we're one happy bunch, and to celebrate International Happiness Day we thought we'd dig deep and see what's made some of our fabulous team happy, travel highlight styley!

Lisa, Sales and Customer Operations Manager: Stumbling across a wedding in Cambodia where the whole street had been blocked off for the celebrations. We stuck are heads in and next minute we were being twirled round the...

When RG's Head of Marketing Will headed to Ghana to visit our projects, he had a fantastic time! It's official: the kid's in Ghana are the nicest, ever!

After tough negotiating with BA staff to get an upgrade on my seat (extra leg room only before you get ahead of yourself) I found my seat only to be confronted by a Ghanaian lady holding a tiny child! Penance for being difficult I here you say - very possibly, very possibly.

However, 6.5 hours later I now have a new best...

Thinking about doing something incredible this year? Here at RG we love getting our teeth stuck into a new challenge and three of us have completed the Kilimanjaro climb. RG's Sophie is now planning on hitting Everest Base Camp too! So, when @LeighannJordan asked us for some advice for her trek up to Everest BC, we thought we'd put together some hints and tips!

We all know how hard it can be to choose your latest adventure. There's a whole world to choose from, and you wouldn't want to make a rash decision and end up in god knows where, would you?! We feel your pain #toughtimes

To sort you out, we reckon we should harness our combined travel genius and help guide you back on to the straight and narrow. First stop - South Africa!

Back in December, I went to South Africa for a good old fashioned...

When this time rocks up each January, we don't half feel sorry for you lot doing your A-Levels. We know how you feel; your life as you know it is in serious limbo and frankly, deciding whether you want to go to uni or not can kindly shove off.

We know a load of you won't be sure as truthfully, most of us weren't 100% sold whether we wanted to go to uni either. Between the RG team we're split 50/50 with uni goers, so it's easy for us to argue the pros and cons; there...

2013 has been a BIG year for Team RG. We’ve upped sticks and moved to the seaside, dominated Brighton with our nights out (soz, Brights) and have been travelling around left, right and centre to control our symptoms of ‘itchy feet’ #nofungusinvolvedpromise

As we’re all obsessed with travelling here in the Real Gap office, we thought we’d work out how many countries we’ve discovered between us this year and we’ve got to admit, we’re pretty impressed. Over the last 12 months we've...

Here at Real Gap, we're all obsessed with our Diving and Marine Conservation project in Belize, Central America. Now, after ten years of being in operation, the team have won an incredible award at the World Responsible Tourism awards... and we couldn't be more proud!

If you're interested in either A) learning to dive in a pretty spectacular environment or B) marine conservation then it's pretty simple- our...

To all of you younger whippersnappers, it's come around to that time of year again. You're either starting your first week or uni (and hopefully loving it!) or thinking of applying for next year, and we appreciate it's a massive decision for anybody. Question is, do you know if uni's definitely for you, or if a year out would help you along your way?

A few weeks ago, we saw an article which talked about...

We cannot believe one of our favourite months, September, is already coming to a close! How can this be? And does that REALLY mean the sale is about to end?

And unfortunately... yes, yes it does! (I know, we can hardly believe it either!). So if you're looking to book on a trip of a lifetime, now really is the time to do it.

Want some inspiration? Here's a selection of three trips to tickle your...

Fancy getting your mitts around our branding? Creating emails, designing t-shirts, website creative and much much more?

We're looking for an awesome designer to join our team! Wahay! The job will be situated in Kingston with the rest of the RG marketing team, and you'll be working across not one but five brands- so this really is an opportunity you cannot afford to miss.

Interested in travel? Even better! You don't have to be a travel guru by any means, but if...

Here at RG, we know big RTW trips aren't for everyone. To set out on a 6 month+ adventure, you need to be reasonably prepared, travel savvy and have exploration running through your veins. Others understandably, prefer to stick to one continent or even more specifically- one country. So how do you know what option's best for you? We've come up with a little criteria which can help you decide whether you're a RTW or a RTB (round-the-block, to you and me) type...

Australia is ONE popular country to visit if you’re a Real Gapper... we send hundreds of you off RTW each year, and as we’re approaching prime Aussie departure time, we thought we’d fill you in with everything you'll need to know if you’re one of the lucky ones swanning off (and if you are, can you make room for us in your suitcase- pretty please?).

Budget: If you’re heading out to Australia to work Down...

We can picture it now… cocktails on the beach at Bondi, soaking up the sun in Sydney, diving in the Great Barrier Reef... (and that's without even mentioning the excitement of having a whole new country to explore!). There's no denying that Australia is an awesome backpackers destination, and over the next week we’re going to be launching a mini ‘backpackers budget’ series- giving you guys all of the goss on life Down Under. ...

RG's Charlie has literally been EVERYWHERE (well, almost!) and so he's always there to dish out great travel advice to our Real Gappers. One of the questions he always gets asked is about fundraising, so he's decided to put together some of his top ideas to help some of you guys out! (He says: You're welcome!).

Ultimately, fundraising is down to the individual. What they're like, how serious they are and what they feel comfortable...

The real motivation for Sally's visit was to volunteer in our community projects in Tanzania, which involved her hopping over the pond to Zanzibar, and exploring Dar es Saleem...

I was lucky enough to visit all of our community projects whilst in Zanzibar, and also a good number when I headed back to Dar, all of which are truly inspiring and incredibly humbling.

In Zanzibar I saw the great...

After Sally's first night in Dar, the next stop was the beautiful spice island of Zanzibar...

The local driver dropped me at the ferry port and purchased the ticket, so it was all nice and straight forward – be careful of the local “porters” who show you to your seat – falling for this myself I realised they then expect a big tip in return and you don’t really need them! Having dosed up on motion sickness tablets in preparation for the 2 hour “choppy” journey I had...

RG's Sally has just embarked on a trip of epic proportions to Tanzania, and now she's back here's round two of her tale!

Throughout my week I was welcomed with the greetings “Jambo” and “Karibu” by friendly staff and locals. The wonderful bright colours and sounds of African life hit you immediately, so be prepared for a culture shock of the best kind as you pass random cow herds wondering along the road, women carrying all sorts of incredible things on their heads,...

After being a star member of team Real Gap for the last six and a half years, Sally has spent time living, working, studying, and travelling abroad- but had never had the chance to tick Africa off her list. It's fair to say that when she was offered the chance, there was more than a little excitement there!

Despite my past travelling experience, it's always a bit daunting setting off to the unknown, just you and your...

Continuing on with her stories from Sri Lanka, Lisa's been dishing the dirt on our Sri Lanka Sea Turtle and Community project...

A local bus from Colombo to Kosgoda “whizzed” me down south towards our fantastic Turtle Conservation project. I say “whizzed”, but what I mean is “dawdled” its way along the coast giving me plenty of time to soak up life beyond the bus, including a Brahminy Kite (big bird of prey and very impressive) circling over a river.

I arrived...

Real Gap's Lisa travelled to Sri Lanka at the start of the month to discover this beautiful part of the world. Find out how she got on on our Elephants and Community project...

I arrived in Rambukkanna in the dark (it gets dark at about 7pm all year round in Sri Lanka so be prepared for short evenings!) and so it wasn’t until the morning that I could take in the surroundings properly. Leaning over the balcony of the volunteer accommodation, I watched some...

Our very own Lisa has just come back from a trip to Sri Lanka, and over the next week she's going to be letting us in on what she got up to! First things first- we want to hear why we should be heading to Sri Lanka this year...

I hadn’t really had too much time to research Sri Lanka before I jetted off on my mission and so the usual devouring of a Lonely Planet took place on the flight from London to Colombo. As we flew over Southern India and on across the Indian Ocean, which...

Scuba pro Polly, the founder of our 'Dive and Marine' Conservation project in Belize, has dived over 5000 times (told you she was a pro!). We love scuba diving here at RG (but admittedly, it can be a little bit difficult at first!) so Polly's kindly given us a few tips on how we can perfect our diving skills. Cheers Polly!

We love a good old festival here in the Real Gap office, but who could blame us? Between us Real Gappers we've pretty much done the lot (V Fest, Glastonbury, Isle of Wight... the list goes on!)- and so that got us thinking, where are the best festivals to hit outside of the UK?

What could be better... a big fat festival, the sunshine shining its little heart out and a new place to explore in your free time; BLISS. So festi-fans, here's our list of our best of the...

Something that makes our blood boil here at RG Towers is animal poaching. Luckily there are high profile individuals, such as Prince William, who are prepared to jump on board and stick up for what's right.

We're real animal lovers over at RG, so once we saw Prince Wills had made this campaign video to support CITES- which is the annual meeting of the 'Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species'-...

The photos below are all from Charlie's time on our 'Lion Cub Experience' trip, where volunteers get to experience life as a South African ranger by working on a reserve for two weeks. Not only that, but you'll get to go on game walks (where you'll get the chance to check out the big 5!), feed...

The girl's still have a hefty slice of their RTW win to go; they'll be heading off on our Thailand Experience from the middle of March, and then flying onto the stunning South Africa...

As you may have seen on Twitter, Real Gap travelled around Asia just after Christmas. We had a FANTASTIC time! But what's it like coming back from adventures galore to the daily 9/5 afterwards? Hard!

Stewing on a sunbed on the last day of your summer holiday is the worst thing ever. 'I have to go back to normal life now' we all think as we relax in the last of our 30 degree spree and sup on our tropical cocktail. Times that by ten and that's what it's like...

Real Gappers, this is a serious one. We’ve always found New Year’s resolutions really tricky, as frankly we never keep them, and this year we’ve asked around the office to see what all of our New Year’s resolutions are…

We have our Ultimate Year Out Winners...

In true X Factor style-y, we thought we'd make our UYO competition a tad dramatic (just a tad, mind. We're no Dermot O' Leary!).

After being whittled down from 13 to three, we had a fantastic selection of videos to choose from. After all, the winner was guaranteed to win the 'ultimate year out' with us- exploring the highs and lows of Australia, the US, Thailand and Fiji... basically one hell of an adventure!...

Nerves of steel? Brave beyond belief? If the thought of ghosts and ghouls sends you into a laughing fit (cheers, Casper...) then it’s time you became acquainted with Real Gap’s activity list of doom*. Ditch the Halloween costumes, and have a look at our terrifying trips. Swimming with white sharks, anyone?

Today's post marks the start of our ever so spooky Halloween week here at the Real Gap office. Ooooooo!

Remember those parties you used to go to when you were five? You donned the witch’s hat, ate too much candy, and probably ran around screaming ‘TRICK OR TREAT’ in people’s ear holes whilst gasping through vampire teeth? Well scrap that (those memories scar us anyway…) and have a look at these freaky festivals from around the world. But beware; if you’re a wuss then this is...

We don't like to blow our own trumpets here at UYO, but our prize is one heck of a prize, and as expected we had video applications galore begging to be taken on a whirlwind of an adventure around the world. Aus, America, Asia, South Africa- what's not to like?!

The UYO team have now selected the final thirteen (unlucky for some, but extremely so for them!) and it's now the time that we ask you, our adoring public, to submit your vote...
