4 of Our Favourite Unique Travel Experiences

It could be argued that every travel experience is unique to the person experiencing it at that moment, as no two people will feel, see or do exactly the same thing on their travels. But, there is a distinct difference in the experiences on offer to travellers in the first place; and some stand out as being one-of-a-kind experiences that aren't readily available elsewhere (our favourite kind), so we're taking a look at some of the most unique aspects of some of our top trips.

1. Nepal Monastery Experience

Travellers standing with kids in red monk robes

Buddhist monks are typically reserved and private people, so getting a chance to talk, teach, and socialise with them is a rarity. With our Nepal Monastery Experience, you won't just be mingling with the monks, you'll be living with them too, and offering them the opportunity to learn as much about your culture as you will theirs. A truly wonderful and spiritual experience, you'll gain a unique insight into monks' lives, whilst enjoying your spectacular Nepalese surroundings deep in Himalaya country.

2. Australia Paid Ranch Work

Australia attracts foreign visitors on working holiday visas all year round, and we'd highly recommend getting in there and joining them. But rather than doing the usual bar work, hotel work, or fruit-picking, why not try your hand on a ranch, working with horses, cattle, and farm machinery, learning how to drive tractors and agricultural motorbikes, as well as getting a grasp on planting and harvesting crops, and generally maintaining farmland? Not only will you get a chance to relax and unwind in the beautiful beachside town of Noosa – on the Sunshine Coast, you'll also get full training from a fun team with a guaranteed job waiting for you afterwards.

3. South Africa Great White Shark Experience

There are plenty of conservation and wildlife trips out there for the environmentally aware traveller, but if you're looking for something a little more testing, then our South Africa White Shark & Whale Conversation trip will really put your nerves to task. You'll help marine biologists monitor, track, and tag these huge creatures, and in doing so you'll be helping protect the species. You'll even get to cage dive to get even closer to the predators – not recommended for the faint-hearted!

7. Journey Through Japan

Japan is a fascinating, mystical land, and offers so much diversity and places of interest, that sometimes travellers are overwhelmed and not sure where to start, so we've constructed a tour that will have you travelling the length and breadth of this fantastic country, stopping at some of the most incredible locations throughout. You'll watch a samurai sword demonstration in Tokyo, Feed monkeys in Arashiyama Monkey Park, catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji, board a pirate ship and sail across Lake Ashi, tour the incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto, visit Hiroshima and Miyajima Island, and stay in a capsule hotel in Osaka, plus a heap load of other activities. Check out the trip here.
