Days 1-2 Venice
Arrive in Venice, Italy, arguably the most romantic and unique holiday destination in Europe. Learn why this city is believed to be the best place to get lost in by zigzagging through a seemingly endless tangle of alleyways, bridges and canals. Sip coffee in the Piazza San Marco, visit a glass workshop or head to the Bridge of Sighs – said to be named in reference to 16th-century prisoners who enjoyed their last moments of freedom while crossing from cells to the executioner. Indulge in local delicacies such as tiramisu and sparkling prosecco or, for the quintessential Venice experience, cruise around the canals in a vaporetto.

Accommodation

Hotel (5 nts), Hostel (2 nts)

The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline. On rare occasions, alternative
arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our usual accommodation. A similar standard of accommodation will be used in these instances.

Accommodation on this trip is on a twin/multishare basis. Please note there may be times when you share a room with passengers travelling on different trips than your own. Throughout the trip we request that our hotels prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination.

If you've purchased pre-trip or post-trip accommodation (if available), you may be required to change rooms from your trip accommodation for these extra nights.

As this is a Basix trip, accommodation is often on a multishare basis with shared bathrooms. Multishare includes triple and quad rooms or even dorm rooms. Couples may be required to share with other couples and you may be sharing with group members of the opposite sex. Couples or people travelling together may be separated due to rooming configurations.

Your accommodation may not always have private en suite facilities or air-conditioning. European hotels generally don't provide kettles or fridges. On occasion, additional beds may be fold-away or portable beds.

Meals

No meals included.

It is recommended that you budget approximately EUR280 for meals during the tour.

Advice & Safety

Throughout your programmes you will have the support and guidance of the programme co-ordinator and team. You will be provided with competent assistance and help with any questions or advice you may need during your stay.

You will be assigned a personal travel advisor who will co-ordinate your programme with you. Feel free to contact them at any time before you go, or when you are on your travels.

In addition, you will have access to a 24 hour emergency contact number so you can contact one of our UK staff at any time should you need to.
