What was your motivation to take a gap break?

I wanted to see Australia and get away from my boring lifestyle of working all the time

Sarah Keele - Fun Down Under   How did you feel before you joined the programme?
I was so excited…I have never been that far away from home before so I was slightly nervous too.

How did Real Gap assist you? How did they compare with your expectations?
They were really helpful . I'm glad I booked onto the programme with real gap as it took a lot of worry away from our first week in Oz. Especially with sorting accommodation and airport transfers etc. I was also really pleased they organised our Visas for us as I probably wouldn't know where to start.

What was the accommodation like?
The accommodation was excellent. “Wake Up” was probably the best hostel we stayed in during our time in Australia. We even tried to book in again when we returned to Sydney from Cairns, after the New Year, but it was fully booked which was disappointing.

What did you think of the programme?
I enjoyed the Fun Down Under programme in Sydney…..especially learning to surf and the Booze Cruise. I probably wouldn't have done all the things included in the programme if I hadn't booked with Real Gap so I'm really glad I did book with them as each different activity/trip was well worth it….And doing the programme helped me meet so many people and make a lot of new friends.

What was the most memorable moment of your trip?
Very difficult question to answer….I enjoyed every second of my trip in Australia and it's very hard to pick a particular moment because there was so many. I couldn't even say which part of Australia I liked the most because every different place we travelled to was better than I expected.

Did your programme and destination meet your expectations? Any anecdotes?
Yes…Our first week in Australia was definitely one to remember and I thoroughly enjoyed it all. I would have hoped for more time doing each different activity/trip…especially the Pub Crawl and the beach BBQ before the Coogee to Bondi walk though.

What do you feel you accomplished during your programme?
I feel as though it gave me the confidence to go travelling on my own even though I was with my best friend because I got speaking to so many different people.

Sarah Keele - Fun Down Under
How have you benefited from your experience? How have you changed?

It has certainly given me the travel bug….I didn't miss home once and almost had to be forced to get on the plane back home. I think it has changed what I want in life and has also made me realise there is so much more out there than you think. I have been home less than 1 week and I am already planning my next trip

What advice could you offer to someone considering this programme?
Do it ! It was a brilliant programme to start my adventures in Australia and meeting so many new friends was one of the many highlights ! A brilliant way to get to know Sydney and how to go about moving on to travel around the rest of Australia…….and everything is organised for you…What more could you want??
