Gap year Mozambique
Want to be a gap year trend-setter? Then Mozambique is the place for you. It’s nearly 20 years since the end of civil war here, but tourism is only now picking up. It’s one of Africa’s best-kept secrets, an undiscovered gem where supply outstrips demand, and that brings opportunities.
Adventure travel Mozambique
It's not all work - adventure is the thing in Mozambique. Travel to the coast and you can snorkel in the Bazaruto archipelago and the country’s network of little islands, or swim with the largest fish in the world, the whale shark, or the most sci-fi, the manta ray. Head inland and you can explore the mangroves in a dhow, or safari well off the beaten tourist track.
Student travel Mozambique
In Mozambique, it’s a bit harder to travel from place to place, but your effort will be rewarded with fabulous wild country and incredible panoramas. The country has much to offer the student in search of something a little different. To the north are are uncrowded paradise beaches on the shores of the beautiful blue Indian Ocean, while to the south there are lively towns like Maputo, where you’ll find busy cafés and lots of live music. There’s plenty of history to investigate too while you travel, particularly the pastel houses and cobbles of the UNESCO World Heritage site at Ilha de Moçambique, dating back to the Portuguese conquest in 1507.
Volunteer work Mozambique
If you want to volunteer, there are both community development and wildlife conservation projects for you to get your teeth into. In Mozambique, with its chequered past, you’ll find your contribution to volunteer work is particularly welcome and valuable.
