New Gap Year Programmes

Gap Year Brochure

At Real Gap, we're always adding new gap year projects to our list of travel and career break options.

There's a constant need for volunteers in third world countries, whether that's helping build new facilities, teaching vital skills or just giving some much needed love and care.

And it's not just people that need your help - many wildlife centres and conservation projects rely on volunteer support.
Our aim is to meet that ever-growing demand - it's young, enthusiastic people like you that can make a difference in your gap year, by helping other communities to help themselves.

Here are our newest selection of gap year programmes...

Gap year students really do make a difference. Since the sea turtle conservation project in Costa Rica was set up, for example, the survival rate of turtle eggs and hatchlings has risen to more than 90 per cent. The volunteers who patrol the beaches have helped make that happen - just a year before the project started, poaching levels were at more than 95 per cent.

New Gap Year Programmes

In Kenya, the effects of the Kenya Camp Life programme are taking place before the community's eyes. The Stephen Kanja water project involves creating a fresh source of drinking water for the community, which will reduce water borne diseases. Our volunteers are involved in clearing the vegetation from the springs, laying foundations and constructing three water tanks. School facilities are also being built, repaired and painted.

Hence, Real Gap implements a constant stream of new programmes. We send volunteers to build houses, nurse injured and abandoned wildlife, help blind people to become integrated in society, give vocational workshops to underprivileged youths and much more. It's our aim to help create sustainable development in the areas that need them most.

Of course, there are plenty of options if you want to don't want to volunteer on your gap year - like learning a new skill or doing some adventure sports. Our list is long and varied and always getting longer!
